Steven Gerrard believes Joe Cole showed how he will add a new dimension to Liverpool's attack this season after his outstanding Anfield debut during the 2-0 win over FK Rabotnicki on Thursday night.
Liverpool's No.10 was involved in everything during the 90 minutes and he also got the seal of approval from the Kop with a standing ovation at the end of the game.
The Reds skipper agreed that the support from the Anfield public was well deserved and he told Liverpoolfc.tv: "Our fans pay good money to see us play good football and I thought Joe was brilliant in his first game at Anfield.
"I'm sure there's plenty more trickery for our fans to see from him in the future.
"The fans here appreciate Joe is a good player who will create goals and score them. They also saw a different side to his game tonight as his work rate was phenomenal and we need more of that.
"We are hoping this will be a successful season for the club and I'm sure Joe will enjoy it here and have a big part to play.

"I know Joe is enjoying his Liverpool career so far. He wants success and so do we, and hopefully we will get that in the future.
"I thought there was a lot of positives to take from this game and it was good to get the minutes in to get us back to full fitness."
Gerrard also spoke about the feel-good factor that new boss Roy Hodgson has brought to the club and admitted he is enjoying working with the new boss.
"It's a fresh start when a new manager comes in and expectations rise but rightly so," he added.
"We've got a good manager here and he has brought some good additions into the squad. Hopefully there will be a few more to come and I don't see why this can't be a successful season for us."
