Steven Gerrard Profile
Steven Gerrard is an accomplished midfield player for Liverpool who is currently one of the most outstanding players in the Premiership. Steve graduated from the club's Academy, to sign a professional contract for the club in February 1998 and he made his first-team debut against Blackburn in November of that year, almost immediately becoming a regular in the side.
Originally playing on the right wing, Steven moved into the centre of midfield and overcame a series of injuries to become team captain in 2003, a position he has held ever since. During his career domestic and international honours have arrived at regular intervals, the greatest of course being the Champions League winners medal Steve received for captaining Liverpool on that unforgettable night in Istanbul back in May 2005. To highlight Steven's attributes would be to do him a disservice - there are no weak points in the game of a player who is arguably the most complete midfielder in the Premiership.
Steven has won a host of personal awards including PFA Player of the Year in 2005-06 and Football Writers Association Player of the Year in 2008-09, while he has been selected for the PFA Premiership Team of the Season for each of the last six seasons. Steven made his debut for England in May 2000, and has now won 78 caps, his most recent appearance coming against Egypt in March 2010.
